The Lucknow franchise for IPL 2022 is renamed as Lucknow Supergaints. The name comes from a list of suggestions the owners received from their fans. The activity of which started few weeks ago.

The Lucknow team will be coached by Andy Flower this season & has finalized their 3 signings before the IPL Auctions. Besides KL Rahul (17 Crore), team owned by Sanjeev Goenka group has signed Marcus Stoinis (9.2 Cr) & Ravi Bishnoi (4 Cr).

On Friday, the two new IPL franchises – Team Lucknow and Team Ahmedabad – announced the list of players they have signed before the mega auction next month. Hardik Pandya, who had a frutiful association with five-time IPL winners Mumbai Indians, has been named captain of the Ahmedabad-based franchise while KL Rahul, who captained Punjab Kings, will now lead the team from Lucknow.

The mega auction will be conducted in Bengaluru on February 12, 13. With less than a month to go, all IPL 10 franchises including the two new entrants have finalized their match faces.

On Saturday, the Indian Premier League announced that a total of 1,214 players (896 Indian and 318 overseas players) werw signed up to be part of the IPL 2022 player auction.The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has contemplated starting the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) from March 27, almost a week ahead of the planned start of the tournament. In a virtual meeting , the BCCI decided to host the tournament in India itself- Mumbai and Pune, with four grounds in close proximity of one another.
