Kolkata:   Lionel Messi visits India for first time in 14 years for a multi-day tour that will take him across the length and breadth of India. Lionel Messi is a three-day tour in India, where he will covering four cities. The cities are Kolkata, Hyderabad (December 13), Mumbai (December 14), and New Delhi (December 15).

In Kolkata, Messi arrived at the airport at around 2:30 AM in the morning, heading off for the hotel. It will be an early start for the superstar as he has a sponsor meet behind closed doors.

The Sree Bhumi Sporting Club has completed the installation of a towering 70-foot iron statue in admiration of the Argentine football legend at Lake Town in South Dum Dum, Kolkata. The statue portrays Messi holding the FIFA World Cup trophy, symbolising his historic World Cup triumph and has drawn significant attention from football fans across the city and beyond. The statue will be virtually unveiled by Messi himself, adding to the excitement surrounding his visit. He will inaugurate his 70-foot-tall statue virtually, before making his way over to Salt Lake Stadium just before 11 AM.

There, he will interact with Shah Rukh Khan, but also dignitaries such as Mamata Banerjee and Sourav Ganguly. Up next will be some footballing sessions with Indian youngsters in a Masterclass with Messi session. The 2022 FIFA World Cup-winner is all set to participate in different activities in Kolkata and will leave for Hyderabad on Saturday evening, in the first leg of the three-day tour.
