Ace Cricketer Virat Kohli to drop out from the One Day International (ODI) series in South Africa. Meanwhile, sources also speculate Rohit Sharma to return to the pitch recovering from his hamstring injury. However, BCCI is yet to confirm Kohli’s participation in the ODIs, sources claim Kohli has personal reasons to sit out.
The BCCI on Monday had informed that Rohit Sharma would miss three test-match Test series in South Africa due to his left hamstring injury sustained during a training session in Mumbai. Priyank Panchal, who was a part of the India A tour to the country is named as his replacement, informed the chief body through a tweet. The tweet read-“ Priyank Panchal replaces injured Rohit Sharma in India’s Test squad. Rohit sustained a left hamstring injury during his training session here in Mumbai yesterday. He has been ruled out of the upcoming 3-match Test series against South Africa.”
The test series will be played from January 19 to 23 and will be preceded by three-match test series in which Kohli is currently scheduled to lead the team. Rohit Sharma was named as captain of the Indian ODI and T20Is formats. Kohli had stepped down as the captain after T20 World Cup but intended to continue as a skipper in ODI.
