In the stupendous career of Virat Kohli, there is hardly anything that can come as a surprise. However, just before the Rajkot ODI against New Zealand, the Indian cricketing superstar was caught speechless, momentarily, at the face of someone who looked like a younger version of him. One of the youngest fans was an individual who was eerily similar to Kohli during his childhood years, and he did not take long to attract the attention of the social media, and more so, that of the cricketer himself.
The child got a chance to meet some of the top cricketers of India the previous day before the series opener. As well as he used to take the autograph of Kohli, he also made photographs with Rohit Sharma, Arshdeep Singh, and other members of the Indian team. The similarity was so strong that even Kohli failed to suppress a smile and clearly felt entertained by the fact the young fan looked so closely to his younger counterpart.
In a rather cute exchange Kohli, in reference to the young fan, called him Chhota Chiku, a reference to his own childhood nickname, Chiku which was most notoriously divulged by MS Dhoni when Kohli was a young player. The young fan provided information about the encounter in an interview, and remembers what Kohli had jokingly told Rohit Sharma: Woh dekh mera duplicate baitha hai (My duplicate sits right there). The fan said that he liked the style and aura of Virat Kohli. As I picked up his name he waved a salutation and told me he would return soon. He also got acquainted with KL Rahul and other members of the Indian team and it was a good experience.
The love of children has also increased as Kohli became a father. In January 2021 he and his wife Anushka Sharma had their first child, Vamika, and a second, Akaay, in four years. Even though Kohli does not want his children to be exposed to the fans, he has been caught on many occasions spoiling the young fans or trying to amuse their demands and exhibiting a more humane and intimate nature.
