Lucknow Super Giants suffered a devastating loss in their previous match against Delhi Capitals, which took place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. This puts KL Rahul and his team’s qualification for the IPL 2024 playoffs under question, as their next match is against Mumbai, which is also a must-win game for them. But their win definitely won’t make them qualify with other teams also being active in the playoffs race.

KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bowl first due to which various analysts criticized his captaincy skills. Mohammad Kaif even went on saying that Rahul should have had a look at the high scoring nature of the current IPL season, which went on as a completely wrong decision for the team.

Batting first, Delhi Capitals was able to set a target of 208 runs for Lucknow Super Giants to chase. The team’s top order batsmen were not able to perform well in response to this chase, as Marcus Stoinis and KL Rahul got out at the score of 5 runs each, while Quinton de Kock and Deepak Hooda were also not able to score well. However, splendid half-centuries from Nicholas Pooran and Arshad Khan helped Lucknow to take the game close.

Aakash Chopra also took a dig at the top order batting line-up of Lucknow Super Giants, saying that the batting line-up trembling down to 44 for the loss of 4, while chasing a score of 209 went bad for the team. If Nicholas Pooran would not have been able to score 61 runs, things could have been a lot worse for the Lucknow Super Giants and affected their net run rate to a great extent.
