The IPL 2024 has been a roller-coaster ride for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) players and fans as the team struggled for form in the first half of the tournament before bouncing back in style in the second half. Starting on a bad note by winning only one out of the first eight games, RCB then began a six-match winning streak that included a decisive win over one of the toughest teams in the league, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), in their all-important game last Saturday. This victory ensured that they would take on the Royals in the Eliminator scheduled for Wednesday.
RCB has a considerable moment in the playoffs, having won the team captained by Faf du Plessis. Varun Aaron, the pacer from India, has echoed this sentiment when stating that RCB is a team that any team has to be careful, including the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who had already made it to the final. Aaron was quick to point out that KKR herself had expressed a desire not to be matched with RCB in the finals at the present moment.
“Absolutely, all things considered, KKR will arguably be the favourite going into the match. Yet, the fate is proven on the day. Whether you are playing for members of the team of champions or playing in the team of ‘outsiders,’ it is not important. That is why I don’t think KKR would want RCB, because they are the rolling team. If RCB reach the final, they will have the mentality that the Cup is for them no one can prevent them,” said Aaron to reporters.
However, the team’s next match is against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Eliminator, which starkly differs from RCB’s recent games. RR had good initial games this season, but they have squads a difficult second half of the season, not winning a match this month.
“There are still important matches left. The pressure of the final is entirely different. KKR wouldn’t like RCB to reach the final because they know they are capable of winning this IPL,” he added.
