AHMEDABAD: Defending champions Gujarat Titans blow away Mumbai Indians at Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday by 62 runs to set up final with Chennai Super Kings.

Shubman Gill’s third century of the season helped Gujarat Titans score a mammoth 233/3 in 20 overs. Gill smashed 129 off 60 balls and a good finishing act from Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan did the work for GT. Mumbai Indians crumbled out of the race, loosing their hopes to reach the finale this season.

Gill earlier brought up his his fifth half century of the season in 32 balls. After that, he went berserk, smashing the GT bowlers all around the park almost nonchalantly throughout the middle overs. He raced past his third century of the season in 49 balls after which he ended up accelerating even further. He ended up being dismissed for 129 off 60 balls, his innings punctuated by seven fours and a whopping 10 sixes.

After Shubman Gill third ton of the season lit up the Narendra Modi Stadium, bowlers led by Mohit Sharma (4 for 10) produced an all-round performance. Suryakumar Yadav (61) and Tilak Varma (43) did gave Titans a scare but 234 was always going to be challenging.

For the finale on Sunday, Titans will lock horns with Super Kings. It is for the first time the Mumbai Indians defeat in playoffs since the 2017 Qualifier vs RPS at Wankhede.
