Stage is being set up to host matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the historic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru once the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has obtained official government approval. The clean clearance gives the 19 th edition of the tournament the initial match of the tournament between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad to be held in the home field of RCB on March 28.

KSCA certified that it was being developed after a high level meeting was convened at the Vidhana Soudha, chaired by Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwar. The meeting was attended by the members of a special committee and KSCA, RCB and event organisers representatives.

In the session, the expert committee came up with a comprehensive report that evaluated the safety arrangements of the stadium, infrastructure preparedness and general preparedness to host the high profile tournament. On March 13, the committee had already inspected the venue to check on the security level and facilities that are available to the players, officials and spectators.

Upon the evaluation and suggestions provided by the committee, the Home Minister officially informed that the IPL matches would be held in the stadium. KSCA authorities indicated that the clearance will be issued after the full analysis of the arrangements and compliance put in place in the venue.

Since the approval is now in it is projected that preparations will increase towards the next season of the IPL with Bengaluru preparing to host one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament.
