In a chase of 173 against the Dhoni team, Deepak Chahar and Ravendra Jadeja scalped two wickets each while Maheesh Theekshana took one. Ravindra Jadeja smashed a crucial 22 off 16 towards the end while Shami was out at 2 for 28.
Earlier, a solid chemistry between Rituraj Gaidwad and Devon Conway guided CSK to 127 for 7 in 20 overs in a terrif powerplay in the first six overs as they stood firm with 49 runs on board. Gaikwad scored 60 off 44 balls while Conway hit 40 off 34.
The win takes CSK to the final of IPL 2023, which is also their 10th final across 16 editions.
