Kolkata: Kolkata Knight Riders defeated the Punjab Kings by 5 wickets, with 2 balls remaining on May 8. Playing against the KKR in the Indian Premier Legue (IPL) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Punjab Kings scored 178 runs after losing 7 wickets in 20 overs.
After winning the toss, Punjab Sings skipper elected to bat. Openers Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh tried to build a partnership. For KKR, Varun Chakravarthy picked 3 wickets, Harshit Rana took 2 while Nitesh Rana and SUyansh Sharma clinched one wicket each.
KKR’s had a chasing target of 179 runs with open Rahmullah Gurbaz could not do much and was defeated by Nathan Ellis in 5th over. Skipper Nitish Rana and Andre Russell displayed great win.
The next match of IPL 2023 is scheduled tonight at Wankhede Stadium where Mumbai Indians (MI) will host Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). After 10 games each, RCB are placed in the fifth spot with a better run rate whereas MI holds sixth position.
Ahead of the game, Royal Challengers Bangalore tweeted about the enthusiasm of the match.
The middle points table is stacked closely with most of the teams standing with 10 points and a win here will be vital for both teams in their success.
