The IPL mega auction list is out. The cricket body on Tuesday confirmed that the auction will take place in Bengaluru on February 12 and13. Around 590 cricketers are set to go under the hammer during the two-day mega auction. Out of the 590 players, 228 are capped players and 355 are uncapped while 7 belong to Associate Nations.
The list sent out by BCCI is halved from the original longlist of 1214 players, based on the wish list of the franchises. The list includes 44 new players that were registered on the request of the franchises.
Jofra Archer, fast pace England bowler, R Ashwin, Trent Boult, Pat Cummins, Quinton de Knock, Shikar Dhawan, Faf du Plessis, Shreyas Iyer, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed and David Warner were the new entrants who were part of the marquee set for IPL 2022.
With two new entrants this season, the BCCI decided to hold the 15th season of the tournament at home. Choosing venues between Pune and Mumbai, the cricket body informed the matches would be held without a crowd. It is likely that the Wankhede Stadium, Cricket Club of India, DY Patil Stadium might be decked up for the show.
