Ace Indian Javelin Thrower Neeraj Chopra has been ruled out of CWG 2022, two days ahead of the event following an injury officials said citing reports that emerged. As per a statement issued by the Indian Olympic Association, the star Javelin thrower had connected to the IOA Secretary Rajiv Mehta to inform him about his injury.

It was then learnt that the historic gold medallist suffered a strain in his groin- as per his MRI reports during the World Athletics Championship in Eugene on Sunday and so could not proceed with the Indian contingent further. Neeraj is advised to rest for a month said the IOA Secretary.

The 24-year-old Indian athlete is second in history to have won a medal at the World Championships after Anju Bobby George who had clinched a bronze in 2003.

He was also entitled as the flag bearer for the Indian convoy at the Common Wealth Games. However, with the uncertainties in place, officials now hunt for a replacement.
