Paris Paralympics 2024: India’s armless archer Sheetal Devi finished second in the ranking round of the women’s individual compound open archery event to advance directly to the round of 16 at the Paris 2024 Paralympics on Thursday.
Sheetal Devi, who was born without arms and uses her legs to shoot, logged a score of 703 out of 720 surpassing the previous ranking round world record of 698 set by Great Britain’s Phoebe Pine Paterson earlier this month.All eyes will be on Sheetal Devi, who will lock horns with Chile’s Mariana Zuniga in the Compound Open 1/8 Elimination round. Sarita too will be in action today women’s individual compound event comes to a conclusion.

Avani Lekhara defended her gold from the Tokyo 2021 campaign in the 10m rifle title with Mona Agarwal bagging bronze. Additionally on Friday, in Para badminton, Suhas Yathiraj (SL4) and Thulasimathi Murugesan (SU5) lived up to their billing as top seeds by qualifying for the knockout rounds in their respective categories. In Para archery, Rakesh Kumar braved a torrential downpour to reach the round of 16 in men’s compound individual event. Sarita too won her round of 32 match.
