Mohsin Naqvi Runs Away With Asia Cup Trophy: In the Asia Cup 2025 final played on the night of 28 September in Dubai, the Indian team won the title by defeating Pakistan by 5 wickets. During the presentation ceremony, the Indian team refused to accept the trophy from ACC and PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi. For about 2 hours, Mohsin Naqvi himself remained adamant on giving the trophy to India. India also clearly refused to accept the trophy from Pakistan. After this, Naqvi took the winning trophy and the medals to be given to the Indian players to his hotel room.

The BCCI has strongly objected to Mohsin Naqvi’s actions. They stated that the trophy should be sent to India, as the winning team is the rightful owner.

“India is at war with a country, and a leader of that country was supposed to hand over the trophy. We cannot accept a trophy from someone who represents a country that is waging war against our country,” Devjit Saikia told media. “That’s why we refused to accept the trophy, but that doesn’t mean that person will take the trophy and medals that were supposed to be given to our country to his hotel room. This is completely unexpected”, he added.

Expressing happiness on winning the title by defeating Pakistan in the Asia Cup, PM Modi congratulated the Indian cricket team for the victory. On this occasion, President Draupadi Murmu also congratulated the Indian team for the victory in her special style.

Speaking of the final, Pakistan batted first and scored 146 runs. Sahibzada Farhan top-scored for Pakistan with 57, while Fakhar Zaman also chipped in with 46. Kuldeep Yadav took the most wickets for Team India, taking four. In response, India lost three wickets for just 20 runs. However, Tilak Verma then scored a superb half-century and an unbeaten 69 to lead the team to victory. Shivam Dube and Sanju Samson each scored 33 and 24 runs respectively.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia further said, “The BCCI is extremely pleased and congratulates the Indian cricket team for defeating Pakistan in the final. All three matches against Pakistan were one-sided, and we congratulate our players and support staff for bringing glory to the country. We are very proud of our team and their outstanding performance on the cricket field. Our armed forces have done the same on the border. Now, the same has happened in Dubai, so this is a wonderful moment… We have decided to award the Indian team a cash prize of ₹21 crore. This prize will be distributed among the players and all support staff.”
