Indian cricket team for T20 would be announced in the next week sources inform as per information received by the national selectors. Though the final date is not informed yet, the selection is speculated to be completed by Friday.
An official source on grounds of anonymity said, “We are looking on Monday or Tuesday for now, but the date isn’t fixed yet. But it will happen by Friday as the 1oth is the ICC’s cut-off date.”
According to media reports, Team India will select 15 players for the T20 World Cup. They will also carry 3 reserve players with them. Ishan Kishan, Prithvi Shaw, and a spinner will move UAE as reserve players. Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, and Mohammad Siraj may get a chance in the T20 World Cup squad. Any of two spinners R Ashwin, Rahul Chahar, Varun Chakraborty, and Washington Sundar could get selected.
The tournament will begin with a Round 1 Group B encounter between hosts Oman and Papua New Guinea on October 17, with Scotland and Bangladesh, the other teams in Group B, clashing in the evening match. Group A would comprise of Sri Lanka, Namibia, Ireland and Netherlands that would compete in Abu Dhabi the next day with Round 1 matches running till October 22. The two teams from each group will proceed to the Super 12 stage of the tournament, beginning on October 23. The second round of the tournament will be held on October 23 in Abu Dhabi, where Group 1 would compete against Australia and South Africa. This would be followed by an evening match between England and West Indies in Dubai.
The first semi-final will be held in Abu Dhabi on November 10 while The second semi-final will be organized in Dubai on November 11. The final clash of the event will be held in Dubai on November 14.
