The T20 world cup dramatic turn around of Indian team could not have been more dramatic. Only four days after tumbling to their second lowest total in the history of the tournament, the Men in Blue came out in a batting spurt and scored heavily 256 four the second highest mark in the tournament history at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai.

The bursting move came at the cost of Zimbabwe who bore the full blast of the revived confidence of India. West Indies had already surrendered 254 to Sikandar Raza and his team in their last encounter and once again the latter decided to take the first shift- a move which miscarried. The best six batters of Indian side recorded a strike rate of more than 150, which has highlighted the aggressive nature and purpose of the team.

The individual contribution of Sanju Samson was the lowest amongst the top order, but it had a meaning. India did not lose a wicket in the first over in the first time in four games, which provided a firm base. Better still, they listed their biggest opening partnership in the tournament following a series of initial disintegrations.

Before this match, the highest opening stand that had ever been recorded by India was 25 against Namibia in New Delhi. The constant early shuts downs such as three consecutive first-over exits with left hand openers had compelled the team management to reexamine combinations prior to this must-win battle.

Having a virtual quarterfinal with West Indies looming India batters seem to have lost self-doubt at the right moment and found rhythm and ruthlessness where it was required the most.
