On Friday, India scored 221/4 after a shortened first day of play in the second Test against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Mayank Agarwal and Wriddhiman Saha were on 120 and 25 runs respectively at stumps. When Virat Kohli won the toss at the Wankhede Stadium, India chose to bat first after the entire first session was wiped out due to a soggy outfield created by overnight rain. Agarwal and Shubman Gill (44) put on an 80-run partnership for the first wicket before Ajaz Patel dismissed the latter. The Mumbai-born left-arm spinner, who concluded the day with outstanding figures of 4/73, sent back the out-of-form Cheteshwar Pujara and skipper Kohli in rapid succession. Both Pujara and Kohli were unable to activate their accounts, though the captain’s dismissal appeared to be disputed.
