As India hopes of rescuing a draw in the Test series against England, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill will be needed to take them to Day 5 of the match in Manchester in their stoical hold. Unbroken 174 run stand by the two batsmen has revived the Indian innings, which made a disastrous start and it has also raised hopes that they can escape defeat, though their position was 137 runs down.

The fourth day started dramatically for the Indian side with two wickets of Chris Woakes in the very first over of the second innings of the Indian team, when he bowled out Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan without scoring and left the Indian outfit on 0-2. England were seemingly comfortable at that point, yet the duo of Rahul and Gill survived the bad weather by playing mature, strong cricket. The two players are on the verge of personal records, but they will not be on the top of their priorities as they will be facing the most important aspects, which are batting time and resisting the English bowlers.

The match scenario is mostly in favour of England, which takes a 2-1 lead in the series and earlier had scored one of the greatest ever Test scores by England. Captain Ben Stokes and Joe Root, with his glorious 150 runs, made their rightful place as the second-highest scorer in the history of Test matches and leadership, and then Stokes gave a brilliant century before he had to retire due to cramps.

Another turn of events may be rain prediction on the fourth day, which might work in favour of India in getting a draw. England, though, will seek to take advantage of any inroads before the morning session ends to force a win.

The innings is an indication of a big comeback in the case of Gill after a barren run in his last few performances, and the steadfastness shown by Rahul has offered much-needed grit to India in these troublesome times. They will be the key players in their performance on the last day of the Test, not only because of the result of the Test itself, but also their momentum overall in being confident in achieving success in the last Test of the series.
