Dubai: As India rejoiced its victory against Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed Rohit Sharma’s side for registering a 5-wicket win in their opening match at the Asia Cup 2022 late Sunday night. PM Modi further lauded the Indian side for displaying superb skill and grit.
“Team India put up a spectacular all-round performance in today’s Asia Cup 2022 match. The team has displayed superb skill and grit. Congratulations to them on the victory”.
It’s been 10 months since Shaheen Afridi’s memorable spell of pace and swing dismantled India’s batting in World Cup 2021. The Indian pace attack literally and figuratively bounced back on Sunday evening to bowl out Pakistan for 147 as the Indian batters scrambled to a thrillingfive-wicket win with two balls to spare.
Home Minister also congratulated the team. “What a superb start by Team India at the Asia Cup 2022”, tweeted the minister.
It was Hardik Pandya who came up with an unbeaten 33-run knock if just 17 balls to help India seal a tight contest. Hardik along with Ravindra Jadeja ensured that the team does not slip up and goes over the line.
“After 10 over of our innings, it was a tight match. In those situations, the game can go either way, but the way Hardik and Jadeja batted, they played very well”, said Bhuvneshwar during the post-match interaction with the press.
Till today, India has won 4 Asia Cup matches against Pakistan. There are 6 teams that are a part of Asia Cup 2022; India, Sri lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong. India will play the next match against Hong Kong on August 31, 2022.
