Mumbai: India defeated Sri Lanka by 302 runs. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Mohammed Shami gave India a perfect start, reducing Sri Lanka to 22/7 in 358-chase at Wankhede on Friday.
Bumrah struck in the first ball, while Siraj did the same in the following over, before adding a second three balls later. He then cleaned up Kusal Mendis in the next over, reigniting memories of the Asia Cup 2023 final.
Ravindra Jadeja finishes it off with Madushanka’s wicket. Madushanka went for a slog by mistimed it down the ground. Shreyas Iyer ran to his left and completed the catch comfortably.
A 302-run win, makes it seven out of seven for India. They are back at the top of the points table, and have become the first team to qualify for the semi-finals. Sri Lanka’s campaign, meanwhile, is now hanging by a thread.
