Heavyweights USA thrashed host India 8-0 in their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Group A fixture at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar on late Tuesday night. On a day when India made its debut in U-17 Women’s World Cup, the US completely dominated the game and secured the three points with a commanding win.

Minutes as Melina Rebimbas volleyed past goalkeeper Anjali Munda, Charlotte Ruth Kohler increased USA’s lead in the 15th-minute followed by a complete trouncing as Remimbas scored again.

The cherry on the top for US team was Mia’s 62nd minute strike. The only US player of Indian descent in 2022 World Cup, Mia buried the ball into the net with a left-footed curler from outside the box. For the United States, the victory will be a major impetus before its match against Brazil.
