With the marvellous finale, the Indian contingent stood in fourth place in the CWG 2022 medal table. The Indians competed for medals across 16 different sports this year. India at Birmingham won 61 medals, 2 golds, 16 silvers and 23 bronze.
The medal shower began with Sanket Sagar who bagged India’s first silver at CWG2022, in Men’s 55 kgs weightlifting. Sagar dominated the event with 113kgs in the Snatch Category, however, slipped to second place after suffering an injury in the second attempt.
World Champion Mirabai Chanu was the first Indian to secure first place on the podium bringing India its first gold for CWG2022. Jeremy Lalrinnunga was the first Indian man to clinch the top podium at Birmingham.
