The BCCI in a press release on Tuesday ruled out Indian captain Rohit Sharma and pacer Navdeep Saini from the second test against Bangladesh. Rohit will not be available to lead India in the series finale in Mirpur, starting December 22.
“Rohit Sharma is under the care of the BCCI Medical Team following his left thumb injury, which he sustained during the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka,” BCCI said in a release.
Reports, on Monday, stated Rohit Sharma suffered a thumb injury in the 2nd ODI of the series. He then flew to Mumbai to give an expert opinion that was ruled out subsequently of the third and final ODI series as he confirmed the injury didn’t look good. According to the medical team, Sharma needs some more time to recover completely before he can hit the pitch with full intensity.
“Navdeep Saini is also ruled out of the second Test owing to an abdominal muscle strain. The fast bowler will now report to the NCA for further management of his injury,” the release further read.
Saini suffered a abdominal muscle strain following which the fast bowler was ruled out and will fly to NCA for further management of his injury.
The Indian Management seems to be preparing for the home season lined up with SL and NZ who will be visiting next month.
