Wellington, New Zealand: The first T20 International match of the three-match series between India and New Zealand could not start on time due to rain. The toss could not be held at its scheduled time due to continuous rain. Both teams will make a fresh start in this series after recently being eliminated from the semi-final stage of the T20 World Cup in Australia.

India had to face defeat from champion England in the World Cup. New Zealand was defeated by the runners-up Pakistan. The match-overs were set to be reduced if the match could be resumed after the rain stopped. But it is still raining heavily in Wellington. According to the local meteorological department, there is a 90 percent chance of rain in the next four-five hours. In such a situation, the match could not be started at last.

Both Indian and NZ fans were present in the stadium with hope. Meanwhile, India and New Zealand players were seen enjoying a game of footvolley amid heavy rain in Wellington. Its video has been shared by BCCI. In the video, Yuzvendra Chahal and Sanju Samson are seen playing footvolley from India. The next match is on Sunday.
