Doha, Qatar: In just a day, the world war of football is going to begin in Qatar. The FIFA world cup matches will be held in Qatar’s capital, Doha. There will be a total of 64 matches in eight stadiums built around Doha. In the first match of the World Cup on November 20, the host country Qatar and Ecuador will face each other.
The opening ceremony will be held before the match. The event will last for half an hour. Though FIFA has not given names of celebrities attending the event, speculations are rife that Bollywood celebrity Nora Fatehis, ‘Hips don’t lie’ star Shakira and K-pop star Kim Jung might perform in the opening ceremony.
Be it the football world cup or the Olympics, the opening ceremony of the games is always enthralling. The LED lighting at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics or the 2010 World Cup Shakira’s ‘Waka Waka’ song is still unforgettable for sports lovers. But what is going to happen in Doha is still unclear.
The opening ceremony of the Qatar World Cup will be held on November 20. The program will start at 7:30 PM IST. The event will be held at A Bait Stadium, 40 km north of Doha. There is about 60,000 spectators’ arrangement there.
Creative Director Marko Balich has been in charge of opening ceremonies for various international sports competitions. He told an international news agency that he is in charge of the World Cup in Qatar as well. He announced the half-hour program before the match between Qatar and Ecuador.
He said, “FIFA and the World Cup organizing committee are looking for a slightly different opening ceremony which will be the first time. The organizers do not want such a show where one person will sing. But it’s better to be surprised about what will happen.” We have to wait for tomorrow to know the final list of celebrities performing at the event.
