The FIFA WC 2022 has reached its last leg of matches of the Group stage with the fate of Group A and Group B, set to be decided on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Ecuador and Senegal will lock horns in a virtual knockout tie to reach the round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2022. The Dutch side is currently at the top of Group A on goal difference, level on 4 points with Ecuador. If Ecuador defeats Senegal and Netherlands lose, they will advance directly to the second round; however, if Senegal wins, the tiebreaker based on goal differential or fair play will determine second place in the group.
While the Netherlands will be expected to beat Qatar, the match between Ecuador and Senegal is the one that will have the world’s attention.
Qatar was the first team to be ousted from the championship match, while South Africa in 2010 was the last time a host nation was eliminated from a tournament early
Meanwhile, the opening goal controversy of Ronaldo according to FIFA has been solved. It confirmed that Ronaldo didi not score a goal. The Portugal reportedly presented evidence that he had got the final touch on Bruno Fernandes ‘ ball into the box after 54 minutes. Fernandes’ cross eluded the Uruguayan defense and goalkeeper Sergio Rochet to open the scoring.
