The knockout stages of the 2022 World Cup will kick off on day 14 of the tournament as the Netherlands face the United States and Argentina play Australia in the first two Round of 16 fixtures. The Netherlands made their way into the Round of 16 after defeating Senegal and Qatar in the group stage along with a draw against Ecuador.
The last piece of group stage action on day 13 featured Group G drama. Cameroon struck in injury time to down Brazil while Switzerland put three past a leaky Serbian defense to win their last game of Group G. The results had no real bearing on the group though as Brazil and Switzerland both qualified for the Round of 16. This is the third World Cup in a row where the Swiss have moved past the group stage.
The Korean Republic coming from a defeat in the last match, ey stunned Portugal with a late goal as they defeated the Ronaldo-led side 2-1 to enter the Round of 16 stage on Friday.
On the other hand, Uruguay defeated Ghana 2-0 in the last Group H match of FIFA WC 2022 but failed to make it to the knockouts as South Korea entered the Round of 16 due to the goal difference. Both Uruguay and Ghana are eliminated from the race for the knockouts.
