Eldhouse Paul became the first Indian to qualify for the triple jump final in the World Athletics Championships (WAC) in Oregan today morning. Neeraj Chopra qualified for the men’s javelin throw with his first throw of 88.39m. While Rohit Yadav joined the reigning Olympic Champion Neeraj Chopra and became the second Indian to qualify for the men’s javelin throw finals.

Athletics Federation of India tweeted Neeraj Chopra’s qualification, “he wants one & done”.

Yadav’s best throw of 80.42m landed him in 11th spot while defending Grenada’s Anderson Peters topped the qualification round with 89.91m. The 24-year old Indian, Eldhouse finished sixth in the Group A qualification round and 12th overall.

Athletics Federation of India tweeted Yadav’s qualification, “It’s massive, It’s historical’.

The two other Indian participants, Praveen Chithravel and Abdulla Aboobacker failed to make it to the finals after nest jumps of 16.49m and 16.45 m respectively. Paul had faced visa issues and reached only a few days ago. He has season’s best and personal best of 16.99m, which he had recorded while winning gold in the Federation cup in April this year.
