After taking a break, for two years, Novak Djokovic is now back in the United States, getting ready for his participation in the Cincinnati Masters, which starts on Wednesday. The tennis legend had skipped the hard-court events in 2022, with his last appearance being in the 2021 US Open final against Daniil Medvedev. His absence was due to his stance on vaccination which had previously caused difficulties with entering the US because of government regulations. However, with these restrictions eased since May, the Serbian tennis star is again competing on US courts.
Following his loss at Wimbledon, Djokovic had mapped out his plans for the summer.. Surprisingly he has added an event to his already busy schedule. As he embarks on this summer journey, fans and experts alike are eager. Analyzing the tournaments, he will be participating in over the two months.
In a nod to his run in 2019, Djokovic is all set to compete in Ohio, marking it as his 15th appearance at the Cincinnati Masters. This also marks his return to the ATP tour following a five-set match against Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final.
Djokovic’s singles campaign at this ATP 1000 event will kick off on Wednesday when he faces either Alejandro Davidovich Fokina or Tomas Martin Etcheverry as opponents. In a turn of events, the 36-year-old is not concentrating on singles. From Tuesday, Djokovic will be teaming up with his Serbian player, Nikola Cacic, in the doubles competition.
