David Miller was heartbroken after losing the final ball in a dramatic last-minute defeat to the Delhi Capitals, and fresh footage from the dressing room showed his mood after the game.
Miller, looking distraught and reflecting on the key moments of the event, was captured sitting alone in the dressing room at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in a clip posted by the franchise on Thursday. Although Captain Axar Patel helped Miller right away, and his teammates were supportive, Miller seemed upset about the opportunity missed.
With an imposing goal of 211, and with only two runs of the last two deliveries remaining, Delhi were poised to win, having simply to get two off. Miller, who had knocked three sixes and two boundaries that included one enormous 106 metre hit, decided to stand behind himself rather than taking a single on the second last ball, displacing Kuldeep Yadav.
But on the last delivery, Prasidh Krishna fooled Miller by employing a slower bouncer outside off stump. Miller had not reached, and a desperate run took cost, Kuldeep being run out by a timely underarm throw by wicketkeeper Jos Buttler, to complete a heartbreaking one-run defeat.
Miller, visibly emotion-nearly breaking down, was near tears, but later on, coach Hemang Badani came to console him and embraced him in his support.
Previously in the game, Buttler had given the Gujarat Titans a scorching 210-4 with a 52 off 27 hits. With an outstanding 92, KL Rahul revamped the Delhi chase, and the remainder of the chase promised a dramatic ending.
It was the first defeat of Delhi in this season, as they lost three matches, which put them in fourth place on the points table.
