After announcing retirement from Test cricket in 2019, the South African Fast Bowler Dale Steyn has announced retirement from “all forms of cricket” on his Twitter handle on Tuesday. He posted a picture with the caption “Announcement” and wrote many things in the note.
The retirement announcement note read, “Today I officially retire from the game I love the most. Bitter sweet but grateful. Thank you to everyone, from family to teammates, journalists to fans, its been an incredible journey together”.
He further wrote, “And it’s been a long December and there’s reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last I can’t remember all the times I tried to tell myself to hold on to these moments as they pass”.
“It’s been 20 years of training, matches, travel, wins, losses, strapped feat, jet lag, joy, and brotherhood. There are too many memories to tell. To many faces to thank. So I left it to the experts to sum up, my favourite band, the Counting Crows”, Dale concluded his retirement emotions by sharing thoughts from American Band Counting Crows’ song.
Apart from his awesome international career as a South African Fast bowler, Dale Steyn also played for the Indian Premier League (IPL) under RCB, SRH, Gujarat Lions, and Deccan Chargers. The 38-year-old pacer has played 125 ODIs, 93 tests, and 47 T20 matches in his 17-year long cricket career. He also has 429 wickets in the test format and 260 wickets in ODI and T20 format to add to his repertoire. His fans will surely miss him.
