Birmingham: The 22nd edition of the Commonwealth Games is currently being held in Birmingham and Team India has collected 20 medals in seven days of live action. India has received 6 gold, 7 silver, and 7 bronze till now. With this, India has been ranked 7th in the medal tally for CWG 2022.
As the eighth day begins with much enthusiasm, Lawn Bowls will be India’s first event for the day. India’s Lovely Choubey and Nayanmoni Saikia are in action against England’s Sophie Tolchardand Amy Pharaohin Women’s Paris Quarter finals.
India’s wrestling contingent featuring Bajrang Punia, Deepak Punia, Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat are all set to start their campaign. Sprint star Hima Das will also feature in the Women’s 200m semifinal today.
After an action-packed seventh day where Sudhir bagged a gold in men’s heavyweight powerlifting and Murali Sreeshankar won silver in Men’s Long jump, all eyes will be on the Indian women’s hockey team today who will battle against Australia in the semifinals. The competition has moved towards its business end as today is the first of the last four days of the Games. However, Indian contingent is still filled with medal hopes in every category.
