The injury curse has also set in Team India in the current Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, with all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out of the remaining four tests against England. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed Friday through a statement that Reddy had suffered a left knee injury and is not likely to take any additional participation in the series. He will fly back home where he will have additional assessment and rehabilitation.
This is a major blow to India, who are already behind 1-2 in the series after losing the 3rd test by a close margin of 22 runs at Lord’s. The fourth Test is a match that Shubman Gill and his men cannot lose in order to maintain the series, and commences at Old Trafford in Manchester, starting Wednesday, July 23.
To the woes of India, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, who has not played a single Test, has also been sidelined in the upcoming fourth game. During one of his training sessions in Beckenham, Arshdeep experienced an impact injury to his left thumb in the process of bowling in the nets. According to an official release issued by the board, BCCI Medical Team is keeping a track of his progress.
To address these dejections, the Men Selection Committee has included pacer Anshul Kamboj as a cover on the squad. Kamboj has already been part of the team in the UK and is already part of the team before the most important game of the Manchester Test.
India lost at the Lord’s, and this was not easy to swallow.
