Sports: The BCCI will be selecting the India squad for the T20 World Cup set to get underway next month in the UAE today at 9 PM. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah (convenor of the selection committee) are also expected to be a part of the most important selection by the committee.
Ahead of an official announcement of the Indian contingent, cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has also weighed in and named his 15-man roster for the showpiece event. Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma (VC), KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan (WK), Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (WK), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, T Natarajan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami are the probable 11 players for ICC T20 World Cup 2021 India. Shardul Thakur, Manish Pandey, Krunal Pandya, Rahul Chahar, Deepak Chahar are the standbys.
Indian Team is currently playing the ODIs in England and then next they will play Vivo IPL and after that ICC T20 World Cup. Due to the pandemic and havoc situation all over the country, last year the BCCI called off the ICC T20 World Cup. “If this year too we call off the ICC T20 Cricket then it will be a huge loss to cricket,” BCCI president Saurav Ganguly said on his 49th birthday.
The hosting country has been changed but the BCCI will remain the host of ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Last year IT20 WC was called off due to Covid-19 cases all over the world. ICC T20 World Cup 2021 India will be played in UAE and Oman grounds. Many world cup teams including team India have already started preparing for Matches. The world cup matches cannot be played in Australia due to seasonal rainfall over there, president of BCCI, Saurav Ganguly said. Therefore, it has been shifted to a safe place. Cricket fans are curiously waiting for these matches.
