Sports: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a fresh notice to the state associations in regards to the re-scheduling of the Ranji Trophy.
In a letter issued- the board has decided to hold the white ball first followed by the Ranji Trophy. As per the new schedule, domestic cricket would begin from January 5 instead of November 16. The series would conclude on March 20.
The white ball match, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will be held from October 27 to November 22 while the Vijay Hazare Trophy will be played from December 1 to 29. The senior women will play their first tournament- National One Day from October 20 to November 20.
The domestic cricket season this year commences with women’s and men’s U-19 one-dayers (Vinoo Mankad Trophy) starting September 20 and it would be followed by U19 Challenger Trophy for both women and men starting October 25 and 26 respectively.
The U-25 one-dayers are scheduled from November 9 to December 10 while the CK Nayudu Trophy (also U-25 from the previous year’s U-23) will start from January 6.
The senior men’s tournament would have 6 groups amongst 38 teams. There will be 5 Elite Groups with 6 teams each and one Plate group with 8 teams. The winner of the 5 Elite groups will reach the quarterfinals directly. The second-placed teams from each Elite group and the winner of the Plate group will play three pre-quarterfinals and the three winners will complete the quarter-final line-up.
