In a historic victory, the Indian men team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has declared an all-time high cash reward of ₹131 crore. The announcement was made soon after India beat New Zealand in the final in the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, and won their title defending it, and making history in the process.
The huge prize is the biggest to be offered in Indian cricket. It is more than the 125 crore reward received by the team led by Rohit Sharma following T20 world cup victory in 2024 at Barbados. By contrast, the winning team of the Champions Trophy in India was given ₹58 crore, and the women who won the Women world cup last year was also given 51 crore.
BCCI on its part, in an official statement, congratulated the players, coaches, and selectors over their impressive performance in the entire tournament. The decision-makers lauded the team due to their high degree of consistency and calmness as they headed to the trophy yet again.
India crowned the title with a thumping 96-run victory over New Zealand in the final. The hosts batted first recording an incredible figure of 255/5 which placed a lot of pressure on the opposition. New Zealand found it hard to maintain the necessary run rate and bowled out with 159.
Through this victory, India won the ICC Men T20 World Cup three times in history and the first team to defend it successfully. India under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav came out with a formidable campaign where they only lost one match in the entire tournament and came out of it strongly to win the much-desired trophy.
