The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has on Wednesday vociferously denied media reports that it had been given an ultimatum by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to take part in the T20 World Cup to be held in near future.

The BCB had earlier on affirmed that it had approached the ICC to discuss the option of relocating the matches due to the security related issues in India, one of the host countries. Nonetheless, later reports indicated that the ICC had rejected the request and threatened Bangladesh with the loss of ranking points in case it failed to play in India. The BCB has strongly refuted these accusations saying that neither was there any communicated warning or ultimatum.

The BCB told the ICC in an official release that the ICC had assured the board that they would see Bangladesh participate in the global tournament without any hindrances. The statement has reiterated that the ICC is determined to make sure that the Bangladesh team fully and without interruption participates in the tournament.

The board further added that the ICC had previously indicated its willingness to collaborate with the BCB to help in dealing with the raised concerns and had promised that the inputs of Bangladesh would be considered in the process of the detailed security planning of the event. The discussions held according to the BCB are constructive and aimed at securing the safety and well-being of all involved teams.

Regarding the unceasing speculation in the media, the BCB discounted any ultimatum. It claimed that such allegations were a distortion of the tone and content of its communication with the world governing body.

The BCB has made note of some reports that there has been an ultimatum issued to the Board on the same. According to the BCB, these claims are categorical as being totally false, baseless and without any sense to what the communication that the ICC gave was.
