A stormy ACC meeting in Dubai, days after the final, has added to the already existing fire. The fact that the medals and the trophy are still not in the Indian hands has left a part of the administrators fuming. India beat Pakistan in the final of the tournament to win the title for the ninth time. However, the post-match script was combusted by a presentation ceremony that turned into a cold war over who hands what to whom.
Men in blue still wait for their tophy and medals with no concrete outcome from a meeting between ACC and the BCCI that took place virtually on Tuesday.
Battle Beyond Cricket Field
Throughout the tournament, India maintained a no-handshake protocol with Pakistan, which triggered former players, experts, influencers, and the general population to talk about it.
The Indian team had stated that they would not take the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi amidst India’s troubled geopolitical relationship with Pakistan and had requested for the trophy to be handed over by the vice chairman of the Emirates Cricket Board.
However, Naqvi denied the request and stayed firm on his stance that India will have to receive the trophy from him. Crazy scenes followed when one of the ACC officials was seen taking the trophy off the ground as the Indian team waited to get on the podium.
