INDORE: Australia made a strong comeback in the series defeating India by 9 wickets here at the Holkar Stadium to reduce the four-Test series deficit to 1-2 making way into the World Test Championship final.
Ravichandran Ashwin gave India a terrific start by dismissing Khawaja on the second ball of the day. Australian openers Usman Khawaja and Travis Head walked out to bat needing 76 runs to win.
Travis Head (49 not out) and Marnus Labuschagne (28 not out) survived some anxious moments before getting Australia home in 18.5 overs as the match got over in little over two days. Labuschagne eased some of those nerves by square cutting Ravindra Jadeja for the first boundary of the day.
India managed only 109 and 163 in their two innings. Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja failed to dislodge the batters and pacer Umesh Yadav was also introduced into the attack but even he failed to make an impact.
