Injury-ravaged India registered their 21st away Test series win on Tuesday after breaching the ‘Fortress Gabba’ in the fourth match against Australia. The 3-wicket win in Brisbane also helped India win back-to-back Test series in Australia.

Skipper Virat Kohli took to twitter to applaud the victory of his team in his absence. He said “WHAT A WIN!!! Yessssss. To everyone who doubted us after Adelaide, stand up and take notice. Exemplary performance but the grit and determination was the standout for us the whole way. Well done to all the boys and the management. Enjoy this historic feat lads. Cheers”

Former Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne took to his Twitter handle and shared that Indian stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane’s century in the Boxing Day Test at the MCG is one of the finest knocks by an opposition captain on Australian soil.

The 32-year-old scored 112 runs and helped the visitors take a huge first-innings lead of 131 runs. Shane Warne congratulated Ajinkya Rahane on his brilliant innings under pressure.

Ajinkya Rahane ensured his side took a decisive lead in the first innings, scoring a magnificent hundred – his 12th in Tests and first as India captain. It was Rahane’s willingness to dig deep and wear down the Australian bowlers that impressed Shane Warne the most.

In the end, it was Rishabh Pant, who produced another scintillating performance in the fourth innings, to prove he is touted as the next big thing in Indian cricket. Pant played a fantastic unbeaten knock of unbeaten 89 runs to power Team India to a 3-wicket win. At a moment in the last 10 fours, Team India needed to run a ball to win the match and Pant changed his gears in total ease for an emphatic win.

At the end of day three, Australia is reeling at 133-6 and has a lead of just 2 runs. Ajinkya Rahane’s aggressive captaincy has brought Team India to the brink of one of their most famous overseas wins. The visitors have a great chance to level the series and take all the winning momentum into the third Test.
