Team India suffered a second consecutive loss in the Super-4s of the Asia cup against Sri Lanka. The Rohit Sharma led team stuttered by six wickets against the Lankans. India had posted a decent total of 174 for the competitors to chase down.
Rohit blazed away after India lost two early wickets. Rohit took over India with a partnership of 97 runs for the third wicket with Suryakumar Yadav. Rohit Sharma scored 72 runs in 41 balls, which included five fours and four high-rise sixes. Suryakumar Yadav also scored 34 runs in 29 balls. In his course of innings Rohit surpassed Tendulkar’s tally of 971 runs in 23 matches in the Asia cups. Rohit mustered for himself 1016 runs in 31 matches. On Tuesday, Pathum Nisanka (52 runs) and Kusal Mendis (57 runs) shared a 97-run partnership to give Sri Lanka a solid start. They had dream start after they removed opener KL Rahul and Kohli in a quick succession leaving the defending champions in a fix.
