India spearheaded into Super 4s on Wednesday comfortably beating Hong Kong by 40 runs. Hong Kong will be very proud of their chase, but the target proved a tad too high.
One must say Hong Kong’ decision to bowl indeed steered India into the next round. The teams’ tough start with Babar Hayat seemed to be short-lived after reliable top three had all perished until Babar fell and only Kinchit Shah in the middle phase was able to muster up a few runs. Scott McKechnie and Zeeshan Ali did get away with a few boundaries towards the end but the game was already done and dusted by then.
Surya Kumar Yadav and Virat Kohli staged a spectacular show with half century off 40 balls by the former team captain and 68 off 26 by Yadav who headed Indias magnificent victory at 192/2.
Rohit, Rahul scored 22 off the third over by Haroon Arshad. Rohit was looking good but fell to Aryan Shukla.
Upnext is the battle between SL and Bangladesh at the Dubai Int’l cricket stadium on Sept 1.
