An overseas player in the Delhi Capitals team has tested positive for COVID-19, taking the total number of positive cases in the franchise to three, sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told in a press interaction updating the players inflicted with the communicable disease.RT-PCR reports are eagerly awaited which would decide the set of players that would proceed for the next match.
Earlier last week, physio Patrick Farhart and the team masseur had tested positive.The latest reports have coerced the team to delay its travel to Pune for its next IPL match against Punjab Kings on Wednesday.
“DC were supposed to travel to Pune today but the entire squad members have been told to retire to their respective rooms and as per protocol RT PCR is being done to ascertain whether there is an outbreak in the camp or it is an isolated case like Patrick Farhart,”a statement by BCCI source read. There is no information yet on whether the match would be affected, but Capitals cancelled their scheduled travel to Pune on Monday after the entire contingent was asked to go into in-room quarantine. It is understood that the entire Capitals contingent is undergoing fresh testing, based on which the next step is likely to be decided.
The last match the fracnhise played was agaisnt RCB on Saturday where it was slapped with a defeat by 16 runs. It is next scheduled to lock horns with Punjab Kings on 20th April in Pune.
