On Tuesday, the 15-member team was announced by Chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar, with Suryakumar Yadav made T20I captain and Shubman Gill his deputy. Five stand-by players were announced along with the primary team: Prasidh Krishna, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Washington Sundar, Dhruv Jurel and Riyan Parag.

Asia Cup 2025, which will start on 9th September, in the UAE, holds more weight than usual this time, particularly with India and Pakistan being in the same group.
