World Youth Skills Day 2024 is a day set globally with the theme ‘Youth Skills for Peace and Development’ focusing on the importance of youths in promoting and solving virtually all human challenges through their skills. Coined UN Youth Employment Summit, this yearly event will be held on the 15th of July 2024 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the KICC in Nairobi. The necessity of preparing young people to become successful entrepreneurs and efficiently experience effective employment and active involvement in the development of society is also critical to the United Nations.
The day emphasizes the importance of giving young people professional skills for solving problems that are prevalent in the contemporary world economy and society, as well as the challenges of the environment. They believe in the key processes of investing in education/training to improve innovation and sustainable development. The theme ‘Youth Skills for Peace and Development’ points to the significance of youth in maintaining and advocating for peace, sustainable development in society, as well and global citizenship.
The World Youth Skills Day was launched after the United Nations’ resolution in December 2014, which addresses worldwide challenges today, including the high unemployment rate and a lack of skills among the youth. Over the years, the event has developed into a solid means of communication between young people and their potential employers, schools, colleges, or universities.
Today, it remains in practice to celebrate milestones with calls for youth’s emancipation and growth all over the globe. It becomes a reference for the proliferation of policy reforms on skills and youth education and employment so that the young can be productive in society and the global economy. As such, the day strengthens partnerships among governments, stakeholders, and young people to enhance skills for youth with special emphasis on peace and development, thus promoting social inclusion and providing a chance for youthful employment, elongation of inventive solutions to avert unrest, and formation of an improved and unified future.
The World Youth Skills Day 2024 is set to be held in Nairobi at the KICC, where all the stakeholders in the youths’ development will have a forum to practice and compare new practices, challenges, and volition new practices to equip our youths for the kind of world that is peaceful and prosperous.
