Chittoor: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has rescued three TDP polling agents who were allegedly kidnapped in Chittoor district. Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Kumar Meena said, “TDP district in-charge Jagan Mohan Raju complained that TDP agents belonging to polling stations 188, 189 and 199 were kidnapped by YSRCP leaders while going to the polling stations.”
According to a press release from the CEO’s office, the TDP agents were kidnapped from Bokaramanda village in Chittoor district’s Sadum mandal, which falls under the Punganuru Assembly constituency.
“TDP district in-charge Jagan Mohan Raju complained that TDP agents belonging to polling stations 188, 189 and 199 were kidnapped by YSRCP leaders while going to the polling stations,” said Meena.
Consequently, the CEO noted that Chittoor district election officials and the Police department responded quickly, rescuing the kidnapped agents from Pileru and later enabled them to attend to their duties.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Congress President and candidate from Kadapa Lok Sabha seat, YS Sharmila said “I am very sure and confident of my victory here. We should all remember that Congress started with 2% votes, we were already at rock bottom. I am very confident that Congress will get double digit percentage and seats this time…” The Phase 4 voting for Lok Sabha polls in Andhra Pradesh saw a voter turnout of 9.05 percent till 9 am.
Odisha saw a voter turnout of 9.25 percent for its four Lok Sabha seats till 9 am on Monday.
