Bengaluru will have direct connectivity with London Gatwick (LGW) airport starting on August 18, making it the fifth Indian city to link with the UK’s second-largest airport, according to media reports.
Air India is set to commence weekly operations, offering five pairs of flights between Bengaluru and London Gatwick. This would increase the overall frequency of flights to and from London Gatwick to seventeen pairs. According to the source, the airline has allocated one of its Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which has 238 seats in economy and 18 flat beds in business class, for this particular trip.
Campbell Wilson, the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Air India, stated, “We are thrilled to offer our guests convenient, non-stop flights between Bengaluru and London Gatwick.” Our commitment to building the worldwide network is strengthened by this new route, which meets the increasing demand for travel between these two significant business and leisure locations.”
Flight AI 177 is scheduled to take off from Bengaluru at 13:05 IST (Indian Standard Time) and arrive at London Gatwick at 19:05 GMT (Greenwich Mean Time), according to an Air India press statement. On Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, the flight will be in service. At the same time, flight AI 178 will take off from London Gatwick at 20:35 GMT and arrive in Bengaluru at 10:50 IST on the following day. Bookings for these flights opened on Friday.
Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Goa, and Kochi are the four Indian cities that Air India connects to London Gatwick. Furthermore, the airline offers six pairs of flights to and from Birmingham as well as 31 pairs of flights to London’s Heathrow per week.
