Bangalore: After a four-day-long deadlock over the government formation in Karnataka, Chief Minister-designate Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D K Shivakumar are all set to take oath tomorrow in Bengaluru. The event is expected to be graced by leaders of several opposition parties.
Both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar met the Governor of Karnataka, Thawar Chand Gehlot, to claim their stake in forming the government after the former was elected the leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) at a meeting of the newly elected party MLAs. Sources suggest that around 20 ministers will be inducted into the Cabinet during the swearing-in ceremony. Negotiations are underway to determine the number of loyalists from both camps that will be given Cabinet berths.
The state is abuzz with preparations for this momentous occasion, and excitement is palpable as people eagerly anticipate the formation of a new government.
Speaking to the media, Randeep Singh Surjewala, the AICC secretary-in-charge of Karnataka, revealed that both leaders were content with their roles. However, when pressed on whether Siddaramaiah would serve as chief minister for the full five-year term, Surjewala remained tight-lipped. Instead, he emphasized that their only priority was to serve the people of Karnataka with humility and dedication.
