New Delhi: Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi urged people on X to refrain them from using derogatory language and being nasty towards former Union Minister Smriti Irani. Following her loss to the Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma, Twitterati made derogatory remarks towards her after she vacated her official residence.
“Winning and losing happen in life. I urge everyone to refrain from using derogatory language and being tasty towards Smt. Smriti Irani or any other leader for that matter”, wrote Rahul Gandhi on X.
Weeks after her defeat in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi, Smriti Irani moved out of her official residence at 28 Tughlak Crescent in Lutyens Delhi. The former women and child development minister was dubbed a giant slayer after she defeated Rahul Gandhi from the seat in 2019.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi won from both the seats that he contested on; Wayanad and Rae Bareli in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
On one hand, Gandhi has supported Smriti Irani, on the other hand, he criticized BJP-ruled states on Thursday following a viral video that showed job aspirants in Gujarat standing in a chaotic queue. The crowd emerged for an interview in huge numbers, resulting in a railing collapse at the interview venue. Rahul Gandhi labeled it as an unemployment disease.
For the unversed, the incident unfolded when nearly 800 people arrived for a walk-in-interview held by a company offering 40 vacancies in Gujarat’s Bharuch district.
