Politics is heating up in West Bengal ahead of this year’s assembly elections. Meanwhile, ahead of PM Modi’s visit to Kolkata, a clash broke out between BJP and Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers in the Girish Park area of the city. Both sides threw stones at each other. Several people were reportedly injured in the incident. Following this incident, tension prevailed in the area. Police have initiated action to control the situation.
Meanwhile, West Bengal’s Minister for Women and Child Development and Social Welfare, Shashi Panja, has leveled several serious allegations against BJP workers regarding the stone-pelting. She said that BJP workers hit her with bricks and pelted stones outside her house. Panja said that more than 50 TMC workers were injured. “I was attacked with bricks. They saw a ‘Boycott BJP’ banner, tore it down, attacked Trinamool Congress supporters, and pelted stones,” Panja said.
